Arnold Schwarzenegger believes that when he is riding his Harley and a car pulls out in front of you, you have to lock up the rear brake and drop the bike sideways so you can slide it down the road. That’s the quickest way to stop. He did it once by himself and once with his kid on the back.

Both are nice, Tiger a better option imo. Duc is a bit heavier.

What it comes down to for all motorcycles. Which country benefits the most from its revenue. Example: I would assume that a brand like Harley benefits the most from being assemble and design here in the USA. Its remote factory's are necessary to ship to a global market.

Just received the GTX 3 pants and I am not impressed. Storage is minimal and the zippers are difficult to open and close. The adjusters are difficult to operate, 2 hands needed. The hip protectors are pathetic at this price point. Interestingly the size difference between L and XL is absurd. I also tried the KLIM A3 pants and the fit is terrible. Like wearing a big diaper. Might just go back to Rukka, say what you want about Rukka, they have fit of their gear nailed down. The stuff just fits great.

I would rather not put that much sideways pressure on my brake rotors.

You did not mention the cost of ownership, here you have to rob a bank to service the Ducati.

If im going downhill on a turning onramp, to maintain speed, would it be ok to trail brake slightly while maintaining some small amount of throttle? Ive done this and felt like I had more control going downhill but im not sure if its wrong practice. I am always careful to avoid any sudden acceleration.

After test riding both bikes I bought the 900 Rally Pro. The key points for me were stability at higher speeds on road (that steering damper on the Desert X is absolutely necessary), fuel consumption (the Ducati used twice the amount of fuel on exactly the same test route) and price. For similar a specification the Ducati was £5000 more expensive. The Tiger was also far more comfortable for me at 6’3”.

That's exactly how to brake on a mountain bike, but that's usually to put more grip down to reduce skidding

No question a 21 inch is the best front wheel size for serious off-road but frankly, the average adventure rider will not be encountering very many cases in the lifetime of his bike ownership which it will justify giving up the considerable dynamic advantages of a 19 inch on tarmac. Please remember that every First World Record established by motorcycle riders has been on a machine with a 19 inch front wheel, yet todays showroom salesmen will try to tell you that a 21 inch wheel is essential for adventure riding. Here are just a few examples of 19 inch wheel record holding riders in date order. 1935 Florence Blenkiron and Theresa Wallach, first humans to cross the Sahara on any form of motorised transport (Panther). 1964 Steve McQueen, first Hollywood actor to win a sliver medal at the ISDT (Triumph). 1973 Ted Simon around the world and write a bestseller about it (Triumph). 1980 Elspeth Beard first woman around the world (BMW).1994 Dave Barr, first man around the world with 2 artificial legs (Sportster). 2004 Ewen McGregor and Charlie Boorman on "the long Way Around" (BMW). 2019 Henry Crew youngest person around the world (Ducati). A tiny sample but there are hundreds more unofficial records all achieved with 19 inch front wheels, I may even hold a couple myself such as the 7,500 mile TAT in 27 days.

I've been riding 56 years, I guess all that electronic gizmos is fine for you younguns. I've never had a bike with it and really don't care to ride a bike I can't work on myself. These days I mostly ride 40 and 50 year old Harleys. Simple but it gets you down the road, works for me but I don't live near a city either

I am a short rider so I need my bars up and Back towards me this will give me a straight sit up position and take the weight off my arms rests and shoulders is this idea correct ?

Went with Ducati desert x rally and have been really impressed with the first 7000kms….had a 23’ 1200 rally pro for a year and way to many electrical issues for me and pour fuelling….so didn’t want anything to do with the new 900….hopefully they get sorted….I have also found the Ducati electronics are by far the most advanced from all the bikes I’ve owned -KTM, Triumph, BMW….

I have never heard so much mis information in my life. I am 71 and have been riding since the age of 17. I also have taught riding for years. The diagram is so wrong, brake until you can see around the corner and then lean in and accerate. I just wish people who have no idea about dynamics just go off and pretend they know. The whole survival idea is to enter the corner at a speed that you can stop in the visible distance and then when you can see around the corner stop braking and then go. Very B.....y simple
